Tin Can Organizer – Messy No More!

Tin Can Organizer – Messy No More!

About

Turn chaos into an organized chaos? Yes, please! And you can do it in a matter of minutes. Save those alphabet soup cans and reuse them as a snazzy means of stashing random stuff: pencils, pens, chopsticks, magic wands, lightsabers, or whatever floats your boat.

Directions

  • 1Measure a piece of paper to fit the circumference of one tin can and cut. Do this six times. You’ll need one piece of measured paper for each can.
  • 2Glue each paper to each can.
  • 3Glue each can together. Yup, it’s really that simple!

The Sci Behind the DIY

Being organized isn’t just easy on the eyes, it’s good for the brain. Our big, beautiful brains are constantly seeking and registering information. Thinking is actually slowed to a snail crawl when ideas and information (or, in this case, things) are scattered in different places. Keeping things grouped encourages a stream of coherent thought. And, obviously, less mess equals less mental interruption when you have to look for things.

So, repeat after us: create a place for everything and put everything in its place. It’s even more beneficial to put things in their place as you work rather than getting organized at the day’s end. Bonus: Teach your kiddos this lesson and cut back on your housekeeping…total mom win!

You'll need

  • Tin cans
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Colored craft paper
